Masuda Bridge, which connected the former settlements of Nakano and Morotake, miraculously survived the disaster.
To the south of the bridge some vestiges of the Nakano settlement are found.
Many houses in this area were once surrounded by tall trees planted as windbreaks, but most were washed away by the tsunami.
Only a few of these tall trees remain.
